Anyone responsible for improving the search engine optimisation of their company’s website.

Programme

Analysing key words

The vocational training in search engine optimisation begins with basic questions: What is your target group? And what key words do you want to use so that visitors can find your site? In fact, these words are directly related to the target group. You will analyse them based on your own website and, of course, we will focus on your target group. We will conduct a competitive analysis.
Optimisation of ranking factors
There are a handful of factors that are essential for ensuring that your website has a high ranking on Google. We will tackle the following important aspects in this module:

  • Content
  • HTML
  • Architecture
  • Website development

Indexing tools

There are various programmes for assessing the optimisation of your website and measuring the effectiveness of search engine techniques. In this module you will use tools designed for webmasters to learn about:

  • Pages indexed by Google
  • Errors discovered whilst indexing the site
  • Searches that lead to your site’s link
  • Who is creating links to your site

Trends and developments

Search engine optimisation is a growing phenomenon, and it is important to stay abreast of the latest trends and developments. You will learn where to focus your strategy and how, in time, you may have to adapt it. This module will tackle current trends and developments. Amongst other things, you will learn about the updates introduced by Google Panda and Penguin, the importance of returns per visitor, and the profile of universal searches.

Link building

Effective link building helps to improve your website’s ranking on search engines. In this module you will learn how to build links effectively as we address the following:

  • Looking for partner affiliations
  • Judging the quality of a link
  • Link aggregation and creating a balanced link profile
  • Avoiding common errors

Achieving a high ranking on search engines using social networks
Your reputation on social networks also influences search engine marketing. But how great, exactly, is this influence and how can you use it to your advantage? In this module we will focus on the impact of social networks on search engine marketing and will give you some useful tips.

Case study

You will implement key words at different levels using a search engine strategy. You will work on your own case study, where you will apply key words to the paid content of major search engines. You will then apply the key words to the normal content of a website, using techniques ranging from basic to the most advanced.

Analysing and reviewing the case study

We will also analyse your case study in depth. What techniques did you use, and how did you position the key words in your website’s content? Most importantly, how can you optimise and adapt your site on an on-going basis? We will examine your case study to see where you can make improvements. You will then use these advices and learnings to give your website a solid basis for effective search engine marketing.
